Why do posters like this fail? The President has little control on spending. Show who had control of the House of Reps, where spending bills must originate by law, y'know our Constitution.
Rollseyes - October 22, 2009, 12:21 pm
Keep on drinking that Kool-aid! lol
Lederhosen - October 22, 2009, 12:10 pm
WTFO:"Where's the bar that shows this year's deficit of $1.4 Trillion?" Not an omission. Refer to the beginning of Clinton's term. Obama can't make the Bush Mistake disappear in 9 months. In seven years you'll see this "omission" and economy corrected.

I just want liberals to realize that Novus Ordo Seclorum doesn't mean turn the New world into the third world
WTFO - October 21, 2009, 12:41 am
Number can certainly be manipulated. In the case of this poster, the numbers aren't twisted, just the attributing them solely to the POTUS instead of including Congress' role in the process. Facts not numbers twisted here.
Haarakkon - October 21, 2009, 12:39 am
Some say numbers don't lie. That's BS. Numbers can be made to say anything you want them to. It's all how they're couched, and any CPA knows that. Want to show a loss, profit or break even? A CPA can do that using the same numbers for all three.
WTFO - October 21, 2009, 12:35 am
True statements, Haar. Do we also agree that it is Congress that sets the budget and not the POTUS. The POTUS just gets to sign the bills. While that is partial credit/blame it doesn't rise to the full accountability suggested in this poster.
Haarakkon - October 21, 2009, 12:32 am
I'll see if I can simplify this for you. The Democratic Party maintained control of the House from 1954 until 1995. The Republicans held on to the House until the United States Congressional elections, 2006.
WTFO - October 21, 2009, 12:32 am
No worries. I know that latin phrase as well as Carpe de Jugular (seize the throat).
LURCH - October 21, 2009, 12:30 am
miu culpa thanks WTFO for the kind correction
WTFO - October 21, 2009, 12:29 am
funny how the chart stops at 06 since Dems spend even more than their Rep predecessors in 07 and 08 and are breaking records in 09. Completely making this chart BS from start to finish. Nice try Leder, too bad facts get in the way.
WTFO - October 21, 2009, 12:27 am
Lurch, actually, Dems were in control from the beginning of this chart to year 95. Reps took the Congress in 94 which accounts for the downward spending falsely attributed to Clinton. Then they spent high for the wars and Dems retook Congress in 06.
LURCH - October 21, 2009, 12:26 am
Oh yeah and the highest years for both the Bushes was during the war years!!
DreMagnum - October 21, 2009, 12:26 am
yeah pretty much the president doesn't effect this a whole lot at all
LURCH - October 21, 2009, 12:25 am
Sorry Harr.. but the decreased years between 92 and 2000 was republican controlled congress
LURCH - October 21, 2009, 12:23 am
Also interesting that this graph could be used for consumer confidience and the DOW. hmmmmm ok FAIL lederhose head
Haarakkon - October 21, 2009, 12:21 am
No, they weren't.
LURCH - October 21, 2009, 12:19 am
AMAZING!!! I am utterly convinced. liberals are right! Oh wait, weren't the democrats in control of congress all these years (other than the war years)?
WTFO - October 20, 2009, 11:05 pm
Where's the bar that shows this year's deficit of $1.4 Trillion? Kinda blows this out distortion of facts out of the water, huh? Convenient ommision.
Zed - October 20, 2009, 3:56 pm
Perhaps because it is a politifake, instead of some supposed party affiliation?
Lederhosen - October 20, 2009, 3:53 pm
thanks for the vote reagan

That would be the multi-trillian dollar question, Bah. Actually, I think the short answer is that you can't.

Boston cream.
Bah - October 27, 2009, 1:58 am
Sean, a purely technical question: Keynesian economic theory is violently apposed by the few libertarians I know. How do you minimize the role of the state and give it more power to manage the economy at the same time?
Sean - June 15, 2009, 2:43 pm
Absolutely no apology necessary WTFO. I went for a low blow. And my recently stated views on socialized medicine (which are hints at what I actually feel, not the whole deal) makes what comes after the "liber" subject to it's own little asterisk.
WTFO - June 15, 2009, 12:17 am

WTFO - June 15, 2009, 12:17 am
Mark, McCarthy may have been right but he gathered too much power from it. Our govt is designed to divide the power among the 3 branches and be watched over by the news. It wouldn't be fair or honest of me to blame Obama for gathering too much power if I
WTFO - June 15, 2009, 12:15 am
My apologies, Sean. I keep forgetting your a libertarian (even though it shares a lot of the same letters a liberal). I just dislike the level of some attacks. Like Letterman going after Palin's daughter (he's a POS).
Sean - June 14, 2009, 10:33 pm
Never totally against them, but a hypocrite nonetheless when a neologism I can't resist loosing on the world comes to mind. But still, it is a dab of hypocracy (sp?) nonetheless. Can't deny it. Tootles.

typo: Change "Then Dem" to "The Dem". sorry.
WTFO - June 14, 2009, 7:45 pm
and I'm happy. Then Dem model over the past few decades is to divide us (racially or economically) get us fighting among ourselves. Then reap the political benefits of the divisions they create.
WTFO - June 14, 2009, 7:43 pm
No worries. I think all political parties from the dawn of time for govts have used this tactic. So I'm less interested in who started it as where we are today. I despise that kind of BS no matter who is using it. Stick to facts, positions, and records
Haarakkon - June 14, 2009, 7:33 pm
Yeah, I realized when I hit the "Post Comment" b***on that I was taking your words out of context. I apologize. I think, though, that the Democrats picked up the low-ball tactic from the Republicans, refined it a bit, and voila! Here we are.
WTFO - June 14, 2009, 7:20 pm
hate and divisions among the American people to gain power.
WTFO - June 14, 2009, 7:20 pm
I never said that the left invented fear and smear. I disagree with your a**essment of Newt but not of McCarthy. My point is that the far-left liberal loons have taken this tactic and aggressively employed it to spread lies about conservatives and fire up
Haarakkon - June 14, 2009, 7:12 pm
WTFO, how is it that you think the Left has suddenly invented fear and smear? Newt made an entire career out of it. McCarthy was one of the worst for it, though.
WTFO - June 14, 2009, 7:02 pm
Right, anyone who speaks against the messiah deserves to be referred to as some sort of retard? That is why liberals suck, because they can't debate facts and instead just resort to character a**assination. That tactic is much easier than supporting ideas
